Prayer is powerful.
Prayer is an honor and a gift.
Our God and Creator. The most magnificent and powerful of all;
The most high King wants to talk to you and listen to you.
We are the ones who make it hard. Sometimes we even make it complicated.
God just wants a relationship.
One problem that hinders our prayers and relationship with God, is we are accustomed to conditional relationships. People can be judgmental. People are moody.
God doesn't listen with a fake smile or secretly feel shocked by your honesty.
We know God knows all things, and scripture tells us that He loves us just as we are.
He wants to hear our words. He wants to help with all the big and little.
Over time, we really can experience the reality of that unconditional love.
(Romans 8:38-39)
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor
height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus taught us about prayer.
Luke 11:1-13
Ask, and it will be given.
Knock, and it will be opened.
Seek, and you will find.
“Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? “Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” Luke 11:11-13
God wants to answer our requests, but like any good father will do so in His wisdom.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:13
There is power in the name of Jesus.
But, His name can and will only be used for the glory and purpose of God.
Jesus is the mediator, who literally sits beside God and allows us before the throne. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
We can come to God in the humility and boldness of that truth.
Don't overthink it.
Just talk to Him.
And listen to Him.
All special relationships begin with and are built on honest conversation.
